ON MAUI Youth With A Mission
Well, the new school has begun and we're just starting the third week. God is good and has really been touching and changing the students' hearts.
There are 34 students coming from Norway, Denmark, Holland, Switzerland, Canada, the Cook Islands, and the USA. You can see that we're a pretty
international group.
We have 11 weeks of lectures on these topics:
The four teams that we're sending out will be going to India/Nepal, Nicaragua, Philippines and Uganda, Africa.
The team will be doing some Evangelism, putting a band together to play in different churches. They will also be helping on construction sites for missionaries and the YWAM
base out there, as well as teaching the things they learned in the discipleship school here.
This team will be helping in several orphanages, serving local churches, working in one of the coffee-house ministries that are going on over there. A lot
of evangelism is on their schedule and they have received an invitation to the high schools to do what they want.
This team will spend half their time in each country, mostly around southwest Nepal and northwest India, by Darjeeling. They will be working
alongside local missionaries and churches over there. The plan is to hook up with an Indian or Nepali DTS and do ministry
with htem together. Evangelism and discipleship is on schedule for them, too.
The Uganda team will be going to rural villages and living in mud huts, going around the bush area doing evangelism with local Christians. They
will be working with medical groups who work with AIDS patients, and they will also be going to the college groups on the campuses and sharing what they learned here and will be encouraging the Christians on
Sundays in the churches.
Pray for me as I lead this school, it's a lot of work organizing and discipling.
Please be praying for the school. A lot of the student's need financial help for the Outreach. And pray that we will get the visas necessary.
(I need money to cover my airfare to Uganda ($1500).
Sometimes I look back at the end of the day to reflect on what I've done and I can't see anything, because my day has been nothing but meetings
with people and having to make a lot of decisions all the time. So it seems like I get nothing done.
The theme and verse for this school is Matt 7:37-38 "He that is thirsty, let him come unto me and drink and streams of living water will flow from within him."
If we believe in Jesus it's not what we gain, but what He pours through us that counts. It's not that he makes us beautiful, rounded, juicy grapes, but
that He squeezes the sweetness out of us that counts. (If we're not ripe then the only thing that can come out of us is sour juice.)
If we're not in a right relationship with Jesus then we won't have much love to give.
Thanks for your prayers. I'll be needing them.
In his grip,
Joel
